When installed correctly, QLD spotted gum exudes natural beauty. This compact project maximised space efficiently. A raised roof pergola (constructed by others) facilitates airflow, preventing heat accumulation, while the covered deck offers protection from the sun.

Hawthorn
Due to the closed courtyard location, the previous hardwood deck struggled to allow airflow to circulate and dry out the decking boards which is critical when it comes to 'decking lifespan'. So, for this make over we replaced the entire subfloor, added joist tape to protect the frame from moisture, and used WoodEvo composite decking as the board of choice.
Berwick
The half-moon shaped deck located adjacent to the pool complements what was already a beautiful space. The single step up gave the impression of a slightly elevated platform, a perfect spot for lazing around while relaxing underneath the tropical palms.
