ABOUT US.

The Sustainable Deck Co.

Our decision to build using only sustainable materials, ensures every effort is made to help preserve our environment. Not one tree has been harvested to manufacture any of the decking boards we use, and our sub-floor materials (pine) comes from only sustainable forests that are constantly regenerated.

The Sustainable Decking Company only uses capped composite decking boards. These boards are made from either recyclable material such as WPC (wood plastic composite) or manufactured recycled composites such as PVC, or polyurethane.  A polymer cap covers the WPC boards, Alloy Armour is used to cap the PVC range and the polyurethane board has a unique Lastane layer.

The Sustainable Decking Company can help you chose the most suitable product for your project. We ONLY use proven composite decking products such as Timbertech/Azek, Trex and Millboard that have a long history and are proven performers in the field, not just on paper. As the old adage goes, “you get what you pay for”.

our why

The Sustainable Decking Co was formed when husband and wife team Mark & Jess Behnecke decided to sell their previous decking business because they felt it grew too big and has lost that personal touch.

Mark & Jess Behnecke

“It was great achievement building our previous deck business up from nothing to something quite big and well known, but we just felt we lost that personal touch with our clients’, Said Jess. “Marks’ very personable, engaging with clients is his biggest draw card.. He understands what clients need, and more importantly has the flexibility to change things around if required”, Jess added.

Mark continues by saying. “Selling my old deck business was easy. When you have been in an industry so long, you get a feel on which way things are moving, so branding our business The Sustainable decking Co was the obvious choice.
Homeowners don’t want to work on their decks, they want to enjoy the time the relax and entertain on them. Gone are the days oiling a deck was enjoyable, the reality it is an ongoing job, that needs to be done at least once, if not twice a year depending on the environment, it costs money and wastes time.
In addition, by using high quality sustainable composite boards, clients are doing their bit in protecting the environment, something we see as important”.
